On Friday, June 17, members of OSSM Class of 1992 returned to campus to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first graduating class o the school. Festivities included campus tours, especially of the dorms since those didn't exist during their tenure at the school. It is rare for a high school junior to attend and present at a national meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS). Charles L., a junior at the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics and resident of Stillwater, Okla., has qualified to take the second round US Physics Olympiad exam, known as the USAPhO, which will be administered on April 12. Sophisticated instrumentation requires in-depth training, which is exactly what Dr. Rahman received this week. Earlier, OSSM purchased a gas chromatograph mass spectrometer for student use in its chemistry classes. Watch video Dr. Mark Amendt of Skydweller Aero, spoke to OSSM students and faculty at an assembly on Wednesday, Feb. 2. Skydweller is a US company with offices in Spain and the US. The company is developing the world's first true commercial solar-powered drone, which has significantly more payload than other solar-powered aircraft. Named Skydweller, it will be the first drone capable of perpetual flight using an autonomous solar-powered aircraft.

Jonathan Triplett joins OSSM as the new director of the Residence Hall. On Wednesday, April 28, a group of OSSM students visited the local Ronald McDonald House to tour the facility and to provide them with about $800 they raised for the charity. OSSM Celebrates 30th Anniversary of First Enrolled Class The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) was created through legislative action in 1983 and enrolled its first class of 44 juniors from across the state in 1990. Osamah Mian, OSSM class of 2016, is a biomedical engineering senior at the University of Oklahoma and is helping develop low-cost ventilators for local hospitals in the Oklahoma City metro. He works with a handful of physicians and engineers to make ventilators that will hopefully cost less than $300 and can be assembled with "off the shelf" parts. Because its a boarding school, OSSM students don't get a traditional "snow day." That doesn't mean they don't enjoy the snow, though, and that's exactly what they did on Wednesday. Four OSSM students and their coach traveled to Washington DC on Thursday to participate in the National Science Bowl Competition from April 25 through 29. The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) announced today its partnership with Boeing to offer advanced science and math classes to Altus High School students as well as students in the Altus area. Tuesday, March 26, was the night of the annual Quantum Experience hosted on campus by the OSSM Foundation.
