Student health and well-being is a top priority for the OSSM. Over the past summer, Dr. Manning and Dr. Richards worked with the OU College of Nursing to create an on-site nursing service. The nurse would provide students with general medical services and help them identify options that provide the lowest level of disruption to their education.

“Being in a residential setting can be difficult for students who haven’t been away from home before,” said Dr. Manning. “Many haven’t had to deal with their health issues on their own. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the OU College of Nursing for the benefit of our students.”

The on-duty nurse will be on campus on Tuesday and Thursday. Additionally, two other registered nurses are on call Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nurse practitioner students will also be available to students in the spring. These individuals are already registered nurses who are getting additional education.

“This partnership is a win/win for both OU College of Nursing and The OSSM,” said Dr. Manning.
