College Planning

College advising occurs both formally and informally at Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics. Our Director of College Counseling works with students and their parents through group and individual advising sessions.

Our goal is to ensure that students and parents are aware of the wide range of college choices and scholarships that are available to help students narrow the field, to find the right college for their individual needs, to work through the application process, and to be able to afford their choices.

The College Advising Process

Beginning with the junior year, students will formally start the college preparation process with the PSAT.  As our students progress through their junior and senior years, the process evolves and incorporates many different resources and tasks.

College Application

We utilize Naviance College Counseling software that allows our students to search for colleges based on selected criteria, informs us when they have applied to a college or university, and requests transcripts and letters of recommendation on the student’s behalf.
