OSSM students swept the Oklahoma State University (OSU) High School Math Contest, which was held in Stillwater on Oct. 3. Its team of eight students won the team competition. Additionally, OSSM students won the top eight placings in the individual competition.

The OSSM team members are Christian Fidel (Owasso), Harry Huo (Norman), Ojas Lakhotia (Oklahoma City), Krish Mody (Edmond), Nathan Phung (Oklahoma City), Tajvir Singh (Ardmore), Andrew Zhang (Stillwater), and Billy Zhao (Lawton).

The individual winners are Joanna Liu (Edmond) in first place; Krish Mody (Edmond) in second place; and Alexander Ji (Stillwater) in third place. While OSSM students won the top eight, only three places were announced.

The OSU Math Day is held annually. Sponsored by the OSU Department of Math, the contest started in 1993. Its goal is to prepare students to work on difficult math problems.

“The OSU High School Math Day is a long-standing tradition for OSSM students,” said OSSM President Tony Cornforth. “We congratulate all our participants on their exceptional performance in this year’s competition.”
