Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics Celebrates 17 National Merit Finalists
The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) announced today that 17 seniors have been named Finalists in the 2025 Competition for National Merit Scholarships.
The OSSM students are Rojina A., K’Vion B., Thomas B., Julia C., Jonathan H., Lauren I., Alexander J., Joanna L. , Judy L., Catherine M., Jonah N., Anthony P., Karun S., Berkeley U., Taksh V., Jyoshikha V., and Elizabeth W.
Selection as a National Merit Finalist is based on multiple criteria, including performance on the PSAT, confirmed by high scores on the SAT or ACT, as well as academic achievements and extracurricular involvement.
“These students have demonstrated remarkable academic excellence and dedication,” said Tony Cornforth, president of OSSM. “We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and celebrate their success as they advance in this prestigious competition.”
Every Finalist will compete for one of 2,500 National Merit® Scholarships of $2,500 that will be awarded on a state-representational basis. About 770 corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards will be provided by approximately 130 corporations and business organizations for Finalists who meet their specified criteria. In addition, about 150 colleges and universities are expected to finance some 3,600 college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards for Finalists who will attend the sponsor institution The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) initially recognized approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 2025 program.
