Convocation is a special ceremony that officially marks the beginning of the new school year. All OSSM students participate, and each member of the senior class receives a Governor’s Scholar certificate and medallion. The purpose of the event is to celebrate and recognize each student for their academic achievements and enrollment in OSSM.

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt will be the honored guest at OSSM’s annual convocation on Sunday, Aug. 11, at 1 p.m. During the event, he will present each senior with an official Governor’s Scholar medallion.

OSSM’s Governor’s Scholar program began in 2017 in anticipation of the Class of 2019. It is a state acknowledgement of each OSSM student as a full scholarship winner since tuition, room and board are funded by the state of Oklahoma. Each student selected to attend OSSM has met the rigorous admission criteria and is honored for their high academic potential and achievement through the program.
