Four OSSM seniors have been named QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship Recipients. This honor grants full, four-year scholarships to some of the nation’s most prestigious universities. The recipients are K’Vion B. (Oklahoma City), who matched with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Mia O. (Midwest City), who matched with Duke University; William W. (Okemah), who matched with Northwestern University; and Elizabeth W. (Lawton), who matched with Yale University.

This is the first time OSSM has had QuestBridge scholars attend Duke, MIT, and Yale.

“Being named a QuestBridge Scholar is a significant, life-changing honor for these students,” said Tony Cornforth, president of OSSM. “The opportunity to attend the nation’s most prestigious universities on full scholarship enables them to broaden their horizons and realize their full potential.”

Questbridge is a national program that connects high-achieving high school seniors from low-income backgrounds with full four-year scholarships to 52 of the nation’s top colleges. Out of 25,500 applicants, QuestBridge selected 7,288 finalists and 2,627 students as this year’s Match Scholarship Recipients.

Ana Rowena Mallari, co-founder and CEO of QuestBridge, expressed her excitement by saying, “We are delighted to welcome this record-breaking number of QuestBridge Scholars. These scholars will contribute a rich diversity of perspectives and experiences to our college partners, enhancing the vibrancy of their campus communities.”

College Match Scholarship recipients are admitted early to QuestBridge college partners with guaranteed, full four-year scholarships provided by the colleges and universities. The Match Scholarship is offered as part of a generous financial aid package that covers the full cost of attendance, including tuition, room and board, books and supplies, and travel expenses.

This year’s Match Scholarship Recipients come from 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as the territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

These outstanding high school seniors have an average unweighted GPA of 3.94, and 92 percent are in the top 10 percent of their graduating class. Around 91 percent come from a household with an annual income under $65,000. The majority of this year’s Match Scholarship Recipients — 83 percent — are among the first generation in their families to attend a four-year college in the United States.
