OSSM has been named a state winner in the prestigious 2024-2025 Samsung “Solve for Tomorrow” competition. The school’s groundbreaking STEM project, which uses drones and artificial intelligence (AI) to predict and manage wildfire risks, has earned the team $12,000 in Samsung technology and the opportunity to compete for a spot as one of ten National Finalists. 

The project, designed to provide real-time data to firefighters, aims to help mitigate the devastating effects of climate events. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, OSSM’s solution addresses a critical community challenge while showcasing the ingenuity and dedication of its students and educators 

“This recognition is a testament to the creativity, hard work, and passion of our students and staff,” said Tony Cornforth, president of OSSM. “We are thrilled to see our school’s efforts to use STEM for real-world problem-solving celebrated at this level.” 

The team members are Bishal L. (Tulsa), Calvin N. (Oklahoma City), Edward N. (Oklahoma City), Akshaya P. (Broken Arrow), Vishnu R. (Oklahoma City), and Khalid U. (Norman). OSSM Professor Monique Baxter is the team sponsor.
