The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) was recently named Best Public High School in Oklahoma by Niche. Rankings are based on school statistics and the opinions of students and parents. Additionally, OSSM is the best high school out of 102 for STEM in Oklahoma.
Demonstrating its ranking as a top school, OSSM experienced its highest enrollment for an incoming class for the fall of 2019. The Class of 2021 consists of 93 members, 48 female and 45 male. The students come from 24 Oklahoma counties and 32 different towns and cities and represent 57 different high schools from throughout the state. The Class also includes eight international students from South Korea, also a record number for the school. Each international student pays tuition, room and board to attend the state-funded OSSM. (Oklahoma law allows up to 10 percent of OSSM’s enrollment to be from paying out-of-state students.)
“OSSM is said to have the most rigorous curriculum of its kind in the nation,” said Frank Wang, PhD, president of OSSM. “Our students come from the entire state for our world class faculty and academic program, which prepares students for college, graduate schools and careers in STEM. We are proud that through their work and companies that they found, OSSM graduates help fuel Oklahoma’s economic engine.”
