Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics to Host Perry Program  for High School Women

Free One-Day Experience Offered Real-World Experience in Medicine and Engineering

OSSM hosted the annual Perry Outreach Program on Saturday, January 27, 2024, on its campus in Oklahoma City. The Perry Program is a free, hands-on experience for high school women who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine and engineering. Students will hear from women leaders in these fields and perform mock orthopedic surgeries and biomechanics experiments. The goal of the program is to introduce new career possibilities that are predominantly held by males to high school women.

“OSSM has hosted the Perry Outreach Program since 2014,” said Amy Roberson, Ph.D., Oklahoma coordinator for the Perry Program. “We partner with the OU College of Medicine and the Perry Initiative with the goal of inspiring women to become leaders in orthopedics and engineering. The programs have been a tremendous success in our state, making a significant impact on the future of women in STEM.”
