Four OSSM students and their coach traveled to Washington DC on Thursday to participate in the National Science Bowl Competition from April 25 through 29. Led by Dr. Rahman, Peter Ha, Brad Luo, Howard Zhong and William Wang qualified by winning the state championship in January. The U.S. Department of Energy sponsors the trip. The National Science Bowl is a nationwide academic competition that tests students’ knowledge in all areas of science and math. Middle and high school student teams from diverse backgrounds are comprised of four students, one alternate, and a teacher who serves as an advisor and coach. The teams face-off in a fast-paced question-and-answer format, being tested on a range of science disciplines, according to its website.
