“[The speakers] gave me the most useful info that I can use in my classroom. I loved the field trips. They gave me info for career guidance and some things to consider in my own life.”

Summer Institutes for Middle School Teachers at OSSM

Each summer, the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) hosts two professional development opportunities for middle school teachers: the Sarkeys Foundation Summer Math Institute and the OSSM Summer Science Institute. These five-day programs take place on OSSM’s picturesque campus in Oklahoma City and offer hands-on, engaging experiences designed to strengthen classroom teaching in math and science.

Earn 26 hours of continuing education credit.

OSSM Summer Science Institute

Teachers engage in lab-based instruction across a range of content areas, including Biology, Chemistry, Geosciences, and Physics/Engineering. The program also includes local field trips and special-topic presentations. Participants receive free classroom materials and science supplies.

Participants in both institutes receive:

  • A $300 stipend
