OSSM senior Miles T. has been accepted as a member of the ATLAS collaboration at CERN, home to the world’s largest particle collider. Acceptance at this level is exceptionally rare for a high school student and makes him an official contributor to the world’s largest and most complex physics experiments of all time. This membership reflects the endorsement of Dr. Stewart, a credentialed ATLAS scientist who sponsors Miles’s work, as well as the Oklahoma State University Physics Department and Dr. Joe Haley, a physics professor who conducts research at CERN.

Miles’s acceptance is directly connected to the particle physics research he has been conducting with Dr. Stewart–research operating at a level typically seen in graduate study.
Located outside Geneva, Switzerland, CERN attracts scientists and students from around the globe. Joining ATLAS is a significant milestone that many in the field aspire to.

Congratulations, Miles.
