23rd Annual OSSM Middle School Mathematics:

An Awesome Contest – Spring 2025

 
The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) middle school math contest is a free math competition for all Oklahoma students in grades 6, 7 and 8. It promotes mathematics skills above the regular classroom and is a vehicle into the world of “contest math.”
Round One is open until Friday, February 14.

ROUND ONE

JANUARY 20 – FEBRUARY 14

  • The locally administered test features 25 questions based on topics that address Oklahoma’s middle school mathematics standards. Students are allowed 40 minutes to complete the test. Calculators are not allowed.
  • Individual students may compete if their local school does not. Parents will register the child and perform the duties of test administrator.
  • Home-schooled students are encouraged to participate. Parents may serve as the test administrator if the homeschool math teacher does not participate

 

ROUND TWO

Large Schools Competition (Division III and Division IV) – Saturday, March 8    12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Small Schools Competition (Division I and Division II) – Saturday, March 29   12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Students who qualify for Round Two are invited to compete on the OSSM campus for the state-wide finals. Certificates and awards for the top performing students by gender and grade will be presented.
