Before You Apply

Review the admission requirements. 

Eligible applicants may apply by completing the electronic application available below. There is no application fee or tuition for Oklahoma residents. To complete the 2022-23 application process and be considered by admission, applicants must complete ALL of the requirements. 

Step 1: Determine If You Are Eligible

Applicants must currently be enrolled in the 9th, 10th or 11th grade. Courses available are:

Algebra 2
AP Calculus BC (requires Algebra 2 and Physical Science or higher, Pre-calculus or Trig recommended)
AP Environmental Science
AP Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism and Calculus III/Differential Equations
AP Physics C: Mechanics
AP Statistics

All courses are year-round starting in August. 

It is the policy of the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics to enroll only students who are residents of the state of Oklahoma, or whose parent or legal guardian is an active duty member of the armed services who is abiding in Oklahoma incident to active military duty, provided the student shares the residence of that parent, by December 1 of the school year for which the student is applying for admission (10th grade year) and who otherwise meet the admission criteria of the School. The state legislature has a provision that allows OSSM to enroll up to 10 percent of its students from international countries or from states outside of Oklahoma. Those students are subject to all applicable tuition, fees and room and board.

Step 2: Complete Application 

All OSSM applications must be completed and electronically submitted here no later than midnight on March 21, 2022 for priority consideration. Applications will continue to be accepted until classes are full or begin. Priority will be given to applicants who complete submissions by the deadline. 

 

Questions for determining residency are handled by the Office of Admission. Applicants may be required to provide additional documentation and will be contacted by the admission office following the submission of applications.  

Step 3: Complete the Release Form 

Applicants and their parent/guardians must complete the parent/guardian release form available here. This form must be signed (electronically or print).

Step 4: Obtain Teacher & Counselor Evaluations 

Applicants must obtain evaluations from two teachers and their current guidance counselor and/or principal. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ask his/her teachers and counselor to complete an evaluation on his/her behalf and submit it electronically. 

Priority deadline for receipt of Teacher and Counselor Evaluation forms is March 21, 2022. Those forms are available here.

Step 5: Submit an Official High School Transcript – Including the Fall 2021 Grades

The priority deadline for receipt of the official transcript is March 21, 2022. Complete a request for transcript form (available here) and submit it to your counselor.

After review of the application, students may be asked to interview with the Virtual Regional program and other OSSM staff or faculty. Interviews will be conducted online and can be scheduled to accommodate other activities. Parents/guardians may also be asked to meet with the interview committee.
