OSSM Students Showcase Research and Earn Honors at GREAT Symposium

Ten OSSM students participated this week in the GREAT (Graduate Research Education and Technology) Symposium at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. This annual event provides students the opportunity to present original research and engage with university faculty, researchers, graduate students, and peers.

OSSM students presented research on ovarian, pancreatic, and liver cancers, as well as studies examining the safety of hydrogels in the eye, among others. Through its mentorship program, OSSM is the only high school represented at the symposium, giving students a unique opportunity to contribute alongside university-level researchers.

Congratulations to Estrella M. and Shreya J., who earned awards for their research posters. Additional participating students included Becci Boughner (Tecumseh)., Kidthusan Birendra (Edmond), Julianne Hoang (OKC), Hana Kilani (Norman), Victoria Pauwels (Ardmore), Nisha Tulshan (Norman), Alex Yoon (Edmond), and virtual center student Kaylee S.

The OSSM Mentorship Program, led by Dr. Mathuram, continues to provide students with meaningful, hands-on research experiences that prepare them for future academic and professional pursuits.
