OSSM Students Win Presidential AI Challenge State Title

Juniors Joshua Li and Jiaze (Jason) Gao, both from Stillwater, have been named the Oklahoma State winners of the Presidential AI Challenge in the High School Track I category. Their project titled “Gadugi Learn: Using Artificial Intelligence to Preserve the Cherokee Language” was one of thousands of entries.

They have now advanced to the regional phase of the competition, which involves a Zoom presentation and interview in front of a panel of judges comprised of industry professionals and educators in the field of artificial intelligence. Each state championship team will compete against the other state winning teams in their region for a chance to present their projects at the national competition in Washington, D.C. this June. The team’s sponsor/coach is Professor Monique Baxter.
