22nd Annual OSSM Middle School Mathematics:

An Awesome Contest – Spring 2024

The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) middle school math contest is a free math competition for all Oklahoma students in grades six, seven, and eight. It promotes mathematics skills above the regular classroom and is a vehicle into the world of “contest math.”

The two-round event begins early in the spring semester. The contest is now complete, and we hope you will check back for information on the 2025 competition. Information currently contained on this page is for informational purposes.

ROUND ONE – Closed

JANUARY 8 – FEBRUARY 23

  • The locally administered test features 25 questions based on topics that address Oklahoma’s middle school mathematics standards. Students are allowed 40 minutes to complete the test. Calculators are not allowed.
  • Individual students may compete if their local school does not. Parents will register the child and perform the duties of test administrator. 
  • Home-schooled students are encouraged to participate.
