Osamah Mian, OSSM class of 2016, is a biomedical engineering senior at the University of Oklahoma and is helping develop low-cost ventilators for local hospitals in the Oklahoma City metro. He works with a handful of physicians and engineers to make ventilators that will hopefully cost less than $300 and can be assembled with “off the shelf” parts. This entire project is expected to last only two to three weeks.

On Tuesday, April 14, they reached their first milestone pushing a breath to a patient, pictured above.

After earning his B.S. in BME, Osamah plans to attend medical school, either at OU Medicine or at Texas A&M’s dual Engineering Medicine program called EnMed.

Thank you to all professionals working in this war on an invisible enemy. OSSM salutes you.
