March 20, 2020

Dear Parents and Students:

Our present plan is this:  We will start remote instruction on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

Today, those familiar with the tools of remote instruction conducted training sessions for some of our faculty on delivering instruction remotely with demonstrations of how to use Microsoft Teams, Open Broadcaster, AWW App, and of how to film a lecture at the whiteboard and upload the footage to YouTube.

Most of our faculty, however, were still on vacation leave for spring break and will not return until Monday. Thus, we plan to do more training for our faculty on Monday and Tuesday. Professors also have the challenging task to figure out how best to teach the content of their classes remotely.

A further challenge is that in an effort to protect our faculty and staff from the spread of COVID-19, we are allowing faculty and staff to work from home so both students and faculty will be operating remotely.

This is an evolving situation so please continue to check your email for updates. Please understand there will likely be glitches and missteps along the way. We ask for your patience and understanding as we figure things out.  Our goal is to continue to provide the level and quality of instruction OSSM is known for remotely and without significant interruption.

Sincerely,

Frank Wang
