Held in early October, the OKC Riversport Youth Rowing League’s fall Regatta featured OSSM’s largest group of competitors with more than 23 rowers.  The teams hit the water with two full crews and a “combo boat.” OSSM A opened the day in the first heat with a second place finish of 2:07.3. Four heats later, OSSM B came in third at 2:42.9. In the following heat, the OSSM/Southeast combo boat completed the course in 2:30.5.

Riversport Youth rowing League manager, Gena Terrill, congratulated the athletes from 13 high school crews from the metro area. “I am proud of them for the hard work they put in this season, “said Terrill. “We had very clean racing.”

While no OSSM team advanced to the Grand Final, which is composed of the fastest four boats, OSSM rowing coach Hannah Henley remarked, “The kids had fun, and they rowed well.”

Second-year coxswain Kristine Nguyen echoed those comments and stated the crews “are better prepared for the spring Regatta in May.”

OSSM has been participating in Riversport Youth League since 2012 and has had multiple season championships in addition to earning gold, silver and bronze medals during this time.
