The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) middle school math contest is a free math contest for all Oklahoma students in grades 6, 7 and 8. It promotes mathematics skills above the regular classroom and is a vehicle into the world of “contest math.”
The two-round event begins early in the spring semester. Check back shortly for more information.
ROUND ONE: (January-February) features a test with questions based on topics that address Oklahoma’s middle school mathematics standards.
Individual students may compete if their local school does not. Parents will register the child and perform the duties of test administrator.
Home-schooled students are also encouraged to participate.
ROUND TWO: (April) Students who qualify for Round Two are invited to compete on the OSSM campus for the state-wide finals. Certificates and awards for the top performing students in each grade will be presented.
