An Awesome Contest – 2023

Held every spring, the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) middle school math contest is a free math competition for all Oklahoma students in grades 6, 7 and 8. It promotes mathematics skills above the regular classroom and is a vehicle into the world of “contest math.”

ROUND TWO  (Completed)

SATURDAY, MARCH 25

Students who qualify for Round Two are invited to compete on the OSSM campus for the state-wide finals. Certificates and awards for the top performing students in each grade will be presented. More information will be available in February.

ROUND ONE (Closed)

JANUARY 9 – FEBRUARY 24

  • The locally administered test features 25 questions based on topics that address Oklahoma’s middle school mathematics standards. Students are allowed 40 minutes to complete the test. Calculators are not allowed.
  • Individual students may compete if their local school does not. Parents will register the child and perform the duties of test administrator. 
  • Home-schooled students are encouraged to participate.  (
