Before You Apply

Review the admissions requirements.

Eligible applicants may apply by downloading the application. There is no application fee and no tuition for Oklahoma residents.

In order to complete the 2023-24 application process and be considered for admission to the Class of 2025, applicants must complete ALL of the requirements within the required timelines. The application will be available in January 2023.

Note to Applicant

Admission is competitive and enrollment is limited.  Satisfying the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

Step 1: Determine If You Are Eligible

Applicants must currently be enrolled in the 10th grade.

It is the policy of The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics to enroll only students who are legal residents of the State of Oklahoma, or whose parent or legal guardian is an active duty member of the armed services who is abiding in Oklahoma incident to active military duty, provided the student shares the residence of that parent, by December 1 of the school year in which the student applies for admission (the 10th grade year) and who otherwise meet the admissions criteria of the School.  The state legislature has a provision that allows OSSM to enroll up to 10% of its students from international countries or from states outside of Oklahoma.  Those students will be subject to all applicable tuition, fees and room and board.

Step 2: Complete Application

All OSSM applications must be completed and postmarked in early March. Applicants must have completed each section of the application by the deadline to be considered for admission.  There are no exceptions to this deadline.

Questions for determining residency are determined by the Office of Admissions.  Some applicants may be required to provide additional documentation and will be contacted by admissions after their application has been submitted.

Step 3: Take the ACT

All applicants must take the ACT as a part of the application process. Applicants do not have to take the ACT before beginning the application process: however the ACT must be taken before the March 1 deadline.

OSSM does not require the Essay portion of the new ACT.

Only ACT score reports from tests administered between February 2020 – April 2023 will be accepted for admissions to OSSM.  We recommend applicants take the ACT prior to the February 2022 test date.

For students requiring testing accommodations due to disabilities, review the ACT website as test registration and administration dates can vary.

To ensure results are received by the Office of Admissions, download and print your score report from ACT and mail it to Admissions.

Step 4: Obtain Teacher & Counselor Evaluations

Applicants must obtain evaluations from three teachers and his or her current guidance counselor and/or principal. Applicants must have a teacher evaluation form completed by their:

  • 9th or 10th grade Science Teacher
  • 9th or 10th grade Mathematics Teacher
  • 9th or 10th grade English Teacher

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ask their teachers and counselor to complete an evaluation on their behalf and have them sent to the Office of Admissions.

Teacher Evaluation and Counselor/Principal Forms are included with the application materials.

Step 5: Submit an Official High School Transcript – Including the Fall 2021 Grades

The deadline for all application materials will be in early March 2023.
