9.  Bubba Bigbucks used a $100 bill to pay for two books that cost $11.98 each, two CDs that cost $12.94 each, and a shirt that cost $21.50.  If the tax rate is 8.25%, how much does Bubba receive in change from his $100?

There are several ways to approach this problem.  We will look at it the way a store would figure the change.  First, we will find the total cost of the items, then figure the tax, add those together and subtract the total from $100 to find the change received.

But the tax will be rounded to the neatest whole cent:  Tax = $5.89

$71.34 + $5.89 = $77.23 = Total owed

$100 - $77.23 = $22.77 in change.
