Summer Math Institute

Directed by Professor Tony Cornforth

The OSSM Summer Math Institute is a math program for middle school teachers – grades 6th, 7th and 8th – and generously funded by the Sarkeys Foundation.   

Senator Penny Williams Distinguished Lecture Series

A lecture series held annually that features national and international scholars in the arts and sciences.

Investigative Research Scholars Program (IRSP)

Directed by Dr. Brent Richards

An intensive, two-week summer program designed for OSSM rising seniors who are selected by OSSM faculty to conduct ongoing research with scientists, engineers, doctors and professors. 

OSSM Mentorship Program

Directed by Dr. Brent Richards

OSSM seniors apply for and are selected for a semester or more of research experience with a professional in the scientific or technological fields.

OSSM Fine Arts Program

Directed by Dr. Dorothy Dodd

A visual and performing arts program designed to instill and promote an appreciation of the arts in OSSM students.

Is OSSM a private school?

No, the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics is a two-year public residential high school created and funded by the Oklahoma legislature.  The school is open to all students across the state who wish to apply during their sophomore year.  OSSM is categorized as a state agency.  See the Admissions webpage for details and application deadlines. 

What is the tuition to attend OSSM?

There is no tuition for a student to attend the school.  Room and board are provided by the state.  Students may wish to have "pocket money" available for incidentals like school supplies, snack bar items or a weekend trip to a local restaurant, movie theatre, bookstore or mall.

Who can attend OSSM?

OSSM is open to all Oklahoma students who are entering their junior year of high school.  Applications are due in March of the sophomore year.
